Make a better coating decision
Use these questions when comparing a proposal. Review the preparation process, finish families and garage cost factors for more detail.
Questions before you choose
Can an existing coating be removed?
It may be possible, but the material, adhesion and condition need assessment. The proposal should explain removal, mechanical preparation and any associated repairs.
Will a coating stop concrete cracks from moving?
No. Cosmetic repairs and active slab movement are different issues. A coating does not correct structural movement, unstable concrete or drainage problems.
What happens if the slab has moisture problems?
Identify the source and assess the concrete for the proposed system. Any moisture measure needs a supported specification. Do not assume a generic coating is a universal water or vapor barrier.
When can the floor be walked on or driven on?
Timing depends on the selected products, repairs, temperature and conditions. Obtain separate instructions for foot traffic, furniture, vehicles, chemical exposure and cleaning.
Which finishes suit wet or outdoor surfaces?
Use a system specified for the exposure and intended use. Wet traction, sunlight, drainage and maintenance must guide selection; the color or resin name alone does not establish suitability.
What should a written estimate include?
It should identify preparation, removal and repairs, complete coating layers, finish, texture, schedule assumptions, return-to-service instructions and any offered warranty terms and exclusions.
Does submitting an inquiry book an installation?
No. A project inquiry supplies information for review. Location, suitability, contractor availability and appointment details must be confirmed before work is scheduled.
Share the location, approximate floor area, existing surface and preferred finish. Request an estimate to discuss the preparation and coating options for your project.
