Plan around aircraft and maintenance activity
Plan hangar coatings around aircraft loads, chemical exposure, surface preparation and operating requirements.
Document the loads and chemicals
Aircraft, support equipment and maintenance work require a project-specific flooring specification. Provide wheel loads, jacking or support points, equipment routes and the names of fuels, lubricants or cleaners likely to contact the surface.
Ask for compatibility evidence
A decorative finish is not evidence of resistance to aviation fluids. Ask for the specified system’s data and applicable exposure limits. Do not assume a product is military-grade, approved for every aircraft or suitable for every maintenance task.
Evaluate the concrete
A coating needs sound, properly prepared concrete. The assessment should identify existing paint or sealer, contamination, weak surface material, cracks and moisture conditions. Mechanical preparation must produce the profile required by the chosen system. A coating is not a repair for structural movement, drainage or an unstable slab.
Traction and visibility
Choose texture, color and reflectivity around maintenance tasks, spill management and housekeeping. Any proposed safety markings should be clearly included in the scope and coordinated with facility requirements.
Protect operating schedules
Schedule preparation, repairs and coating work around aircraft movement and other activities. Separate pedestrian use from loaded return to service. Ventilation and access requirements depend on the selected products and work plan.
Information for an estimate
- Hangar dimensions, access and slab condition.
- Aircraft and equipment use, wheel loads and support points.
- Chemical list, cleaning practices and spill exposure.
- Closure window, required markings and finish preferences.
